Case Studies

The following case studies provide some insight into the powerful impact of Rafode's microcredit program:

My name is Bernard Otieno and I run a bicycle taxi business.  The $150 loan I received from Rafode has allowed me to purchase the 3 bicycles that my business uses today.  Apart from the loan, Rafode’s training program helped me to keep good records of my business, I now can project my income each month and work towards achieving it. I have almost completed my first loan and I plan on applying for a second larger loan so that I can buy more bicycle taxis and increase my daily earnings.

I had tried borrowing from other micro-credit institutions but was never successful because they required me to have very large savings with them first that I could not afford.  Rafode gave me a loan without savings and also funds many other men like me.  I am forever grateful to Rafode.

My name is Ruth Njuguna. I am married and have 3 children. My business deals with the distribution of eggs.  I sell eggs both on retail and wholesale.  I buy my eggs from Uganda, and transport them to my shop here in Kisumu, Kenya.  I want to thank Rafode for assisting me with a $150 loan.  It has allowed me rent a small store for my business.  I used to trade from my home before.  My future plan is to complete the loan and borrow a second time, so that I can branch out and sell different items.
